In October, Women for STEM had the incredible opportunity to meet and inspire a group of brilliant young girls from Al IMRA Primary and Secondary School. These students, currently studying in higher grade levels, are already setting their sights on a bright future. We were honored to spend time with them, sharing motivational stories, valuable advice on studying smart, and insights into pursuing careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
Study Skills and Motivation
Since the students were in their secondary years, we focused on sharing effective study strategies, helping them understand how to study smarter rather than harder. We provided tips on managing time, taking effective notes, and staying organized to ensure they could succeed in their academic journeys. We also motivated them to push through challenges, reminding them that persistence and dedication are key to reaching their goals.
The session was filled with empowering words, encouraging the students to realize their immense potential. We discussed the importance of STEM education and the wide array of opportunities it offers, emphasizing how each of them could play a crucial role in shaping the future of technology and science.
Fun and Games
We wanted to ensure that the session wasn’t all serious, so we also included a fun and interactive segment! The girls were split into teams to play exciting group games. One of the highlights was the “Cup Challenge,” where they had to work together to build a pyramid using paper cups, testing both their teamwork and creativity. The laughter and energy during these games created an even stronger bond among the girls, making the day memorable for all.
Building Confidence in STEM
As we wrapped up the event, our goal was clear: to help these young girls build confidence in themselves and their abilities in STEM. By providing both practical advice and encouragement, we hoped to inspire them to take bold steps toward becoming future leaders in technology, science, and beyond. Together, we are nurturing a generation of girls who are not only curious but also empowered to achieve greatness in their studies and future careers.
We left the school that day filled with hope and excitement, knowing that the future of STEM is brighter with young women like them leading the way.
