Event Recap: Grand Opening Event, October 3rd, 2024
On October 3rd, 2024, at Primo Palace Hall, we hosted a remarkable event that marked a major milestone in our mission to empower young women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Our Grand Opening event, themed “Unlock Your Potential: A Journey Through the World of STEM,” welcomed over 70 enthusiastic girls from high schools and universities, all excited to explore the world of STEM and the opportunities it offers.
A Diverse Panel of Inspiring Speakers
We were thrilled to feature an inspiring lineup of speakers from different sectors, each offering unique perspectives on the importance of STEM education and careers. The event included professionals from:
– Banks and Financial Institutions who highlighted the growing need for STEM skills in the finance sector, and how technology is driving transformation in financial services.
– Higher Education Representatives, who encouraged the students to pursue STEM degrees and emphasized the wealth of academic opportunities available.
– Innovation Lab Leaders who shared fascinating insights into how creativity and innovation are key to solving global challenges using STEM.
– Organization Owners who have built successful businesses in tech and science, sharing real-world experiences on entrepreneurship in STEM fields.
Each speaker stressed the importance of women in STEM, pointing out how diversity fuels innovation and how vital it is for more young women to pursue careers in these fields.
Engaging and Interactive Sessions
The event wasn’t just about inspiring speeches—it was also designed to be highly interactive. One of the key highlights was the Q&A mentoring sessions, where groups of girls had the opportunity to present their ideas on how to succeed in their respective STEM fields, despite any obstacles they may face. These sessions allowed the attendees to connect directly with our speakers and mentors, who offered personalized advice and guidance.
In addition to the mentoring, we incorporated an element of fun with an exciting interactive game. The girls were divided into three groups of ten, and each team took part in a number challenge. Using A4-sized cards marked from 0 to 9, the groups had to quickly form the numbers displayed on the screen. The room was buzzing with energy as the teams worked together to solve the challenge, emphasizing the importance of quick thinking, teamwork, and collaboration—all essential skills in STEM careers.
Insights from Attendees
One of the most rewarding aspects of the event was hearing from the girls themselves. Many shared how the event had inspired them to think bigger about their futures in STEM, giving them new ideas and the confidence to pursue careers they hadn’t previously considered. High school students were particularly motivated by the stories of the speakers, while university students appreciated the chance to network and learn about the latest trends in STEM.

This event is just the beginning of our journey toward empowering the next generation of women in STEM.
